2010 Road Tour on Saturday July 17th 2010

It's that time of year again. The Antique Town Rods 33rd Annual Rod Run and Show scheduled for July 17th and 18th 2010 is now in the beginning planning stage.
Today the '93 Buick Roadmaster Estate Wagon turned 375,000 miles as I drove around Northwestern Illinois and up the Iowa side of the Mississippi river. As of now, the trip will be shorter than last years record 141 miles. However, one has to agree that the '09 tour was long but who could forget seeing the Amish mowing hay with horses and feeling the experience of Gravity Hill.

The '10 Tour/Poker Run [Poker Run pays $300][1st $150, 2nd $100, 3rd $50][Royal Flush pays extra $100]will take us from Galena to the Old Blanding Tavern at Blandings Landing along the Mississippi for the first morning stop. [The Bloody Mary Stop] . From there we head to Hanover, Illinois to the Rocky Waters Vineyard Winery http://www.rockywatersvineyard.com/ . Also, in the morning we will stop at the Massbach Ridge Winery in Massach, Illinois http://www.massbachridge.com/ . On to Savanna, Illinois for lunch. We will cross the Mississippi at Sabula , Iowa and continue up the Great River Road to Bellevue, Iowa . [ ICE CREAM STOP] When we reach St. Donatus, Iowa, you will be making two stops to visit the Greg Kalmes Body Shop and Merle Bergs Shop. [Both places have helped build cars for the RIDDLER AWARD ]. We will continue up Hwy. 52 to Dubuque, Iowa and then back to Galena for Shine Time.... All tour cars receive a 2010 Tour license plate [ Garage Art]... More to follow: Dave Krieg dkrieg@mchsi.com

  1. Thanks for sending me the link to Galena Rod Club Site. It brightened up a bleak winter day. I have my calendar marked for July 17,18. Looks like a fun trip you have planned. We are leaving Friday for Jamaica to soak up some sunshine and attend the 2010 Marshmallow Growers Convention.
